ABOUT THE ARTIST
Molly O'Leary (they/them) is a queer non-binary singer-songwriter from New Bedford, Massachusetts. Last year, they released their sophomore record, Marigold, produced by Will Hoge in Nashville, TN. Marigold is an indie folk rock album that chronicles Molly’s mental health journey during a recent time in therapy. The record explores PTSD, coming out as queer and non-binary, and overall leaves listeners with hope that healing is possible.
Whether performing with the full band, as a duo, or solo, Molly hits the heart strings of audiences with their honest, vulnerable songwriting about mental health and social justice. In response to the release of Marigold, they received the following awards/nominations: 2024 New England Music Awards Nominee for Act of the Year, Album of the Year, and Americana Band of the Year; and 2025 Motif Music Awards Nominee for Favorite Singer-Songwriter. Molly has opened up and shared the stage with some of their favorite artists like Will Hoge, Dave Hause, Geoff Rickly (from Thursday), DeVotchKa, Ryan Cassata, Sarah Shook & the Disarmers, Arum Rae, Robert Ellis, Beans on Toast, Vanessa Jean Speckman, Micah Schnabel, Andrew Montana, and more. They also work in their hometown of New Bedford, MA, as a therapist for queer youth and adults. Their office, which is nicknamed "Kitty Castle," has an ocean view of West Beach, where they host therapeutic songwriter nights a couple times a month for local and touring acts. "When I first heard Molly’s music, it hooked me. They have a great voice. Really cool songs. Obviously those things matter a ton but Molly also seemed to really have the other thing that is vital to being a musician and that’s the desire and work ethic to get yourself out there and do the hard work of getting your music heard by folks. I’m a fan and I can’t wait to see where the path Molly chooses and follows takes them next." -Will Hoge
